Description of Magnificent Mile
In between the northern and southern focal points, Michigan Avenue offers one upscale or trendy shop after another, many in highrise-style malls, and some of Chicago's most elegant hotels. Key stops include (south-to-north): the Hotel Inter-Continental (once the Medinah Athletic Club), Cartier, Crate and Barrel (its flagship location), Ann Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tiffany & Co., Banana Republic, the Peninsula Hotel, Neiman Marcus, and the well-known Water Tower Place mall. Nearby the Hancock Building and to its north, highlights include the Downtown Campus of Loyola University of Chicago, the Fourth Presbyterian Church, the 900 North Michigan Avenue shopping center, the Drake Hotel, and One Magnificent Mile which includes trendy restaurant Spiaggia.
