Avondale is the community area which includes Trójcowo, one of Chicago's most celebrated Polish neighborhoods. Located along the Milwaukee Avenue corridor, Avondale has a large Polish population (14% are Polish speakers) but a much larger Hispanic populatation (56% are Spanish speakers), part of the large Hispanic area of Chicago's northwest side. The major commercial corridors of Belmont (pictured) and Addison run east-west through Avondale, and it is bounded on the east by the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94). |
