Meandering along Belmont Avenue starting around Cicero Avenue, moving west through the Cragin neighborhood (Belmont-Cragin Community Area), past Central Avenue and further, to around Narangassett Avenue, this thriving business district serves Hispanics and Europeans, especially recently immigrated Poles. Although the past few years have seen a trend of the Polish population dispersing into the rest of Northwest Chicago and nearby surburbs, the Belmont-Central area remains a strong hub of Eastern European culture and businesses. Polish-speaking shops and services thrive here, as do venues of entertainment catering to Chicago's Polish residents. The neighborhood is very much worth a visit, although it is often ignored by tourists, perhaps because it promotes itself and is particularly hospitable to its natives.
