The Edgewater Community Area, which "seceded" from the Uptown Community Area several decades ago to become the newest of Chicago's 77, includes diverse neighborhoods and population groups. Exclusively residential neighborhoods in its center, such as Edgewater Glen, EPIC (sometimes called Magnolia Glen), and Lakewood-Balmoral enjoy generous foliage and friendly streets; the commercial districts line Broadway, to the east, and Clark, which goes through Swedish-heritage Andersonville. |
