Offering the North Shore's largest commercial area outside of Evanston, the city of Highland Park marks the northern end of the consecutive string of North Shore suburbs, although more isolated Lake Forest remains farther north. Highland Park offers architecture, affluence, and landmark structures similar to neighborhoring suburbs, but has more people than the villages to its south and sprawls over a larger area, with a slightly more diverse population.
