Neighborhood names and merchant associations abound in the eastern part of Chicago's Lake View community area, such as Northalsted, Lake View East, Boys Town and New Town: all of these are basically names for Chicago's high-profile, at times flamboyent gay community and shopping districts that include stretches of Broadway, Clark, and Halsted streets running north-south from Irving Park to Diversey, (excluding the sports bars of Wrigleyville near Addison and Clark). Nestled between these merchants' corridors are some of the city of Chicago's most charming and secluded residential streets, and lovely Belmont Harbor on the lake and the surrounding neighborhood are not far to the east.
