A small, quaint historic district just east of Andersonville in the Edgewater Community Area, Lakewood-Balmoral shares that area's diversity of population and brings its own architecturally historic charm with buildings in, for instance, the Queen Anne and Classical Revival styles. A true sense of neighborhood and community prevails, here, facilitated by insulating street layouts and the towering presence of St. Ita's church, one of Chicago's jewels.
