Probably a name brought into currency by mid-20th-Century sociologists, Chicago's "Lower West Side" is the official community area which contains the Mexican-populated Pilsen neighborhood, with "the Pilsen" a far more common designation for this general vicinity than the "Lower West Side". The Lower West Side community area also contains the Heart of Chicago and Little Tuscany/Heart of Italy neighborhoods.
