Far to the west, just inside Chicago's border, Montclare has a small-neighborhood suburban feel, and is still establishing its identity as a residential and commercial area. Some establishments in this community area suggest a reflection of eras gone by, others point to the slowly changing, increasingly dynamic cultural makeup of this part of Chicago. 19% of Montclare's residents speak Polish, 32% speak Spanish, 2% speak Arabic, and 5% speak Italian, Greek, Tagalog, and other languages -- leaving only about 40% of the community as English-speakers.
