Along with the Loop, the Near North Side is one of Downtown Chicago's core areas, and contains within it a diverse group of smaller neighborhoods. Best known for the Magnificent Mile, which has the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower at its southern end and the Hancock Building close to its northern end, the Near North also includes the highly affluent Gold Coast, gracious Washington Square, trendy Cathedral District, exciting River North, sleek Streeterville, and changing Cabrini Green, as well as pleasant Old Town.
