Inseparable from its connection to architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Oak Park is also known as the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway, as a gracious suburb to the immediate west of Chicago, as a suburban pioneer in welcoming a diverse population, and as great place to day trip for both Chicagoland locals and visitors to the area. Oak Park 's range of homes offers what is in effect an outdoor museum of 20th-century residential architecture, and its parks and proximity to forest preserves make it a lovely place to enjoy nature as well, such as charming Austin Gardens.
