The far northwest suburbs in Chicago's Round Lake area, near the recreational Chain o' Lakes Region, are increasingly Hispanic (Round Lake Village was 25% in 2000), but the values of new residents seem compatible in respects with the German, Polish, and Irish descendents also inhabiting the area. These suburbs are comparatively well-to-do, especially in terms of median houshold income, but per capita income is similar to that of many typical Chicago neighborhoods. This area is, however, quite distant from Chicago, both geographically and psychologically.
