Particular in its attitudes, insular, and in culture a strange combination of its lakes-country, recreational roots and the opportunities that affluence has brought to the outlying Chicagoland villages, Round Lake Beach is a rather peculiar place -- not to mention its ethnic dialogue between Anglos (62%) and Hispanics (31%) that echoes that of many Chicago neighborhoods. Judging from Round Lake Beach's per capita income of only about 18,000, it is not exceptionally affluent, but looking at its median household income of about 60,000, it is certainly comfortable monetarily.
