South Evanston, the area in the southern part of the city of Evanston, far more ressembles a North Side Chicago neighborhood than the peaceful streets of a North Shore suburb, but it is definitely a transitional space between the two. Its southeast corner is dominated by the inspiring, restful pathways of Calvary Cemetary. The rest is a mix of architectural styles, income levels, and ways of life. 6% (565) of this area's residents claim Jamaican ancestry, and another 10% West Indian, although this comparatively dense Carribean population is not necessarily immediately evident.
